四个other用法巧记（一句口诀区分others,the others,the other与another）

初中英语经常考others,the others,the other与another的区别。比如选择题：下面哪个是正确的选项？

这4个选项的单词都与"other"这个单词有关，与定冠词"the"和不定冠词"an"有关。所以区分这4个单词的关键1是清楚"other"的意思，2是理解冠词特指与泛指的意思。

other相当中文“其他的”意思，形容词，修饰名词，即后面接名词。对如何分辨它们的不同，我归纳了一句口诀：有"s"表复数，无"s"表单数。有"the"特指，无"the"泛指。

1. others有"s"无"the"

others=other+复数名词，无定冠词the，泛指，即没有限定范围的其他人或物，比如：Some people like history, while others prefer literature.（others=other people）

有些人喜欢历史，而其些人更喜欢文学。

2.the others有"s"有"the"

the others =the other+复数名词，有定冠词the,特指，即有限定范围的其他人或物，比如：There are only two students in the classroom. Where are the others? （the others=the other students）

只有两名学生在教室，其他的都到哪里去呢？

"the others"特指这个班上除了那两名在教室的学生外的其他学生们。

3.the other无"s",表单数，有定冠词"the"，特指，通常指某范围中的另一个。比如：He has two watches ,one is black and the other is red.

他有两块手表，一块是黑色的，另一块是红色的。(the other特指两块中除黑色以外剩下的另一块）

4.another由不定冠词an+other构成，无"s",表单数，无定冠词"the"，有不定冠词an,泛指，即任意的另一个。比如：I don't like this one, please show me another.

我不喜欢这个。请给我另一个。（another泛指，除“这一个”外的任意的另一个。
